This is an awesome site…I subscribe to Bargainmoose’s emails and love it.  I have received so many great deals and free offers.  In fact just today (thanks to Bargainmoose) I popped into my local Subway Restaurant for a free breakfast sandwich and coffee, Mmmmm.  The reason I a decided to post this information is two-fold.  The first reason is I want to share this great online resource with Bargain Shoppers everywhere and second (selfish reason) because the good people at Bargain Moose  are giving away a free Ipad and for metioning the site on my blog I get an extra entry, hehe.

What do you do for a living?  Business owner?  HR professional, Nurse, Truck Driver….salesperson?  Nope Never a salesperson.  Salespeople are the type that are paid on commission, circle you like a vulture when you walk into the new car showroom as though their last meal depended on it.  You’re definitely not one of those.  Hmmm well, I guess you didn’t get the memo, you are indeed a salesperson and if you’re not one now you better learn really quick how to be one before you miss the train!  I don’t care if you are a Stay-at home Mom, the donut maker at Tim Horton’s, or the Pastor at the local Church, one thing is for sure, If you want to succeed you have to know how to sell!

A Nurse sells herself by reassuring her patients that she knows what she’s doing and that she has the skills to carryout what needs to be done.  If she hasn’t sold her patients on her abilities as a Nurse she’s had it.  The Stay-at-Home Mom  closes sales every single day.  It can be anything from selling her 5 year old on that new casserole she made last night with a guarantee she won’t be able to taste the onions in it, or   selling her husband  on that much needed family trip to Spain.

I think you know where I’m going with this.  Everyone and anyone can use a good selling technique, in fact I will go one step further and say everyone absolutely requires a good selling technique, it’s mandatory!  right now your saying to yourself,  I don’t want to come off as one of those pushy salespeople, I just hate that type.  How badly do you want to succeed in life?  I’m not saying you have to be an obnoxious person, I’m just saying either you get what you want or want would you get.  In the end the only way to get what you want is to be the best saleperson you can be.  Seven traits of a highly successful salesperson:

1. Know what your talking about

2. Stay Focused

3. Conquers fear

4. Always has a positive attitide and is energetic

5. Genuine

6. Listen to the Customer

7.  Makes eye contact with customers

Of course there’s much more to being a highly successful salesperson.  Some people naturally have the gift to sell however selling can be learned and is only limited by your drive and ambition to succeed!

It doesn’t matter whether you’re selling a product or a service, nor does it matter whether your business  is bricks and morter or internet based, sales are sales and if you don’t make any your business is in trouble. 

 Here are 5 creative tips to help sell your product or sevices:

1. – Re-package – If your product or service isn’t selling get creative, think outside the box and repackage it.  Let’s say you create websites but lately business hasn’t been great, why not create a website package that includes a basic website, a domain name, and free hosting for one complete package price?  The customer is is still paying for the domain name and the hosting but the prices are repackaged  into one nice neat little package.  This works in the same way for retail.  If you’re a gift shop owner and the serving trays just aren’t selling, how about pairing them with a set of placemats and napkins beautifully wrapped in cello and ribbon, again factoring in the individual prices when pricing the set.  This isn’t a new idea by any means and can be accomplished with any product or service including real estate, professional services, retail products, food products, rental products, etc.

2. – Create Hype – It never hurts to creat a little hype.  Make an announcement on your website or just to your loyal customers that you will be having an exclusive sale.  Unvail your repackaged products.   

3. – Create Urgency – Don’t go for an open ended event or sale.  Choose a deadline and stick to it. This creates a sense of urgency to the buyer that they only have a limited time to act.

4. – Everyone wants what others want – I love this one and it is so true!!  How many times have you been at a store looking at something and then people start horning in try to see what your looking at.  They think there must be a good deal so they feel compelled to check it out.  Let’s say you plan a sale event that you are booking appointments….Maybe your renting out apartments.  double book, even triple book your appointments.  When your potential buyer sees other buyers interested in the same apartment it becomes somewhat of a competition.  Everyone wants what others want.

5. - Take calculated chances – Sometimes you have to take chances in business.  I’m not saying the above tips will work 100% of the time but you will never know if you don’t take the chance.

This is a totally random post on my blog but it happened to me and it could happen to you so I was compelled to write this article.  Yes, a terrible thing occured last night…my lovely children ( 4 & 5 ) were playing with my ipod touch and changed the language settings to Chinese.  I realized quickly that I needed help as I couldn’t figure out which options to select within the settings option because I couldn’t read Chinese, grrr. 

 First I seached google, then I called anyone and everyone I could think of that  had either an ipod touch or iphone, then I posted a plea to my facebook friends to call me or send instructions to walk me through the process.  At first I couldn’t find it on the internet, none of my friends or family that owned an iphone or ipod touch were home and not even one person answered my facebook plea for help. 

In the end I went back and googled some more and bingo I found it and it worked!  Here are the instructions;

This will work for ipod touch or iphones….

Go to settings…scroll down to the option second from the bottom…click it… then go to the first option..click it…then click your language (english)…then click the blue tab in the right upper corner…done.

You decided to create a new web based business. That’s great! Congratulations! Maybe you decided to focus on writing reviews for click bank products or set up a nifty little website with adsense ads, quite possibly you have taken Potpie Girl’s advice and you are generating a nice little online income with Squidoo. Whatever your strategy is you’re happy because you’re starting to bring in some money. How many people did you actually network with to make that money? I mean…. How many actual telephone conversations or face to face meetings did you have? Many people become very wealthy operating online businesses never communicating with a single sole other than via e-mail, and that is perfectly fine. Let’s look at it from a different perspective.

Let’s say you are experiencing amazing success with Squidoo, which is an excellent way to generate an online income (Potpie Girl’s success is a perfect example of this). I actually have a few lenses myself. Let’s say your entire business is focused on Squidoo, what happens if Squidoo ceased to exist? Would you still have a business? What if Click bank crashed….What if the internet was no more? Would you be in financial ruin? Would you be able to maintain your current lifestyle? Would you be able to pick up the phone and call up internet colleagues, suppliers, or some of those loyal customers to get your business back up and running? Would they know who you are?
If you did make that call would there be enough of a connection with you to continue dealing with you or would it be easy to “forget” to call you back because you are just one of the many nameless, faceless automated internet businesses they have dealt with in the past? Ever wonder how those old family run hardware stores or the Mom and Pop Corner stores continue to exist among huge retailers like Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Price Club?
